If it's Tuesday, it must be Sheila Harsdorf (R - 10th district).
Recall spokespersons confirmed that the campaign has over 22,300 signatures - 142% of the total. The signature total is expected to climb to 150% by the time all petitions are gathered and counted.
The four and a half hour procession from Senate District 10 to Madison to file the petitions is underway as I write this - expected arrival at the GAB of about 12:45 pm, weather permitting.
Wow.
Last night, we had simultaneous rallies on the east and west sides of the district, in Menomonie and Hudson. Here is Bob Salt, Dunn County Democratic Chair, making the announcement:
Sheila Harsdorf Recall Announcement
THIS is what Democracy looks like!
Harsdorf's reply - "The signatures collected by special interests only represent 10% of the population of the district". Yeah, let us know how that works out for you.
Thanks to all the volunteers. Wisconsin has only forced recall elections for four legislators in history - we've just done four in the past three weeks! And no post would be complete without a shout-out to Paddy Ryan's, which has become the liberal hangout in Hudson since they refused service to Governor Walker.
If you're in Madison, please come out to greet these volunteers as they arrive at the GAB!
Sorry to for the short post - more news than a diary, but I want to get this up before Chris Bowers beats me to it!
Oh - and word is out to expect at least a fifth recall later this week.
:-)
UPDATE - here's a video from the Hudson event, from the Hudson Patch:
