This is not a diary, but a request for help. I'd like to compile a list of publicly owned utilities and/or local utility boards that have democratically elected boards. For example, in California, four of the largest utility companies are PG&E (privately owned), Southern California Edison (privately owned), San Diego Gas & Electric (privately owned), and Sacramento Municipal Utility District (publicly owned, democratically elected board). If you know of a thorough national list, reply in comments; if not, let me know who your utility bill checks are made out to.
Trust me, it's for a good reason :)
Update: big thanks to Ban Nock, whose link led me to National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. DailyKos people rock! I'll leave the diary up because I want to gather info on publicly owned utilities beyond NRECA.
