I refer, of course, to dkmich's diary of today.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Michigan Senate, I humbly suggest that we can make lemonade out of this lemon. Here's the angle:
I propose that we require sturdy sew on patches for the second hand clothing for foster children in Michigan. They will serve the wearer well by holding together thin, torn, frayed clothing, so they can be worn longer, and help the thin shirts and jeans to keep the wearer a bit warmer in Michigan winters. They also can be used to cover any stains on the second hand clothing. Additionally, this serves the state by saving it money. Winning!
If the patches are designed in an artistic way, they will almost certainly catch on with the younger crowd. This could be leveraged in favor of Michigan's Foster Children, by elevating their fashion status with their peers. It is an established fact that children are label conscious, and often align themselves with peers based on their shared clothing choices. WinningWinning!!!
The oppositional and counter cultural tendencies of young children have been well documented. I propose that we target those tendencies in the design. Patches emblazoned with the following words: "Abused" "Unwanted" "Born Addicted" and perhaps "Orphan" should engender a TREMENDOUS. RESPONSE among Michigan middle school students. Imagine the enormous profits Michigan could realize from the licensing and sale of these patches to every tween in the state. As an added bonus, the manufacture of these patches will create much needed jobs in Michigan. Big Time Winning!
A further revenue stream could be generated by merchandising the now successful brand. Middle school students would line up to buy Abused , Unwanted, Born Addicted and Orphan t shirts, sneakers, jeans...the possibilities are Hollywood Winning!
And if the designs go nationwide, Ladies and Gentlemen, we are looking at a Phenomenon Of Winning that could serve Michigan well for YEARS.
I srongly urge you to consider the business possibilities outlined above. In this time of Great Need, Michigan Herself can be well served by Her Foster Children.
Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for your kind attention.
