He is on the record by the Associated Press as saying that "only this time" the Republicans aren't doing it....they might have been doing it all those OTHER TIMES, but not this time.

[Colbert? Handle this, boiiii]

"Look, scaring seniors comes out every two years, and this time it's the Democrats trying to do it," Ryan said.

Frank Luntz is gonna get his ruler and spank Paul Ryan for letting his inferior intelligence (sufficient enough as a whore for Koch, but not for public debate) mess up the messaging in this quote to the media. It's a nice gem tucked inside the story. A slip of the tongue, sort of...a lack of brightness, mostly. Paul Ryan is not as good a liar as his leader John Boehner.

For those of us wondering if the townhall stories would even get picked up by media, the AP story out ain't too shabby:

The Republican plan to fundamentally restructure Medicare and cut social safety net programs like food stamps and Medicaid has at times been a raucously tough sell as its supporters head home and meet with their constituents, including Democrats organized against them. Even the architect of the plan, Rep. Paul Ryan, has been booed, though many of those attending four meetings Tuesday in his home state of Wisconsin were supportive.

More from AP:

Sandra Lepisto, 65, a retired elementary school teacher from Racine, said she was concerned about Ryan's Medicare plan. She held a sign that read, "We use up the voucher, and then what?"

"Ryan's numbers don't make sense. If something catastrophic happens and your voucher runs out, what are your options then?" Lepisto said in Kenosha.

Ryan drew standing-room-only crowds at all four of his Tuesday meetings. Two were so full that dozens of constituents, along with press members, were denied entry. The only venue that drew obvious protesters was Kenosha, Wis., where about 80 people stood with signs such as "Ryan Hood Steals From US And Gives To The Rich" and "Paul Ryan Stop Lyin'."

Jim Johnson left the Kenosha meeting early, telling a reporter outside he and his wife were among a small group who booed when Ryan entered. Johnson, 63, said he voted for Ryan in years past but had grown increasingly disgusted.

"He says Medicare is unsustainable. I'm thinking, 'Yeah, it's because medical costs are out of control,'" said Johnson, a retired Navy captain. "Why isn't he attacking it at that level?"

Meanwhile, former Air America talk show host was arrested, and reportedly maced in her 17 hours of police custody. Video of the incident doesn't show any of the claimed criminality by arresting officer.

She was initially just being removed from the hall, but Sandler shouted at the officer to take his hands off of her as they were escorting her out, likely providing a trigger for the arrest. Confronted by Sandler's boyfriend, the officer did not say why he was arresting her.

Similar to other recent Republican town hall meetings, this event was loud and angry, with numerous hecklers hammering Rep. West on his vote to cut Medicare.

One man who repeatedly disrupted the event kept asking why West had nearly appointed as his chief of staff a fringe conservative who once advocated "bullets" as a political solution if votes didn't accomplish their goals.

Unfortunately for the dissenters, West refused to answer questions from the audience. He instead chose only to address pre-screened and approved queries, essentially ignoring constituents who pelted him with criticism.

The birthers and their enablers in Congress tried to capitalize on birther mania all the way to the bank. Now that Obama dropped a can of long-form whoop ass on them, they're going into full out SPIN mode to try to make themselves look less stupid than they were....

Republican leaders distanced themselves from the White House’s release of President Obama’s birth certificate Wednesday, calling it a “sideshow” and a “distraction” and knocked the administration for releasing it.

The document may be driving the news cycle today, but for Republican leaders, the “birther” issue seems to be the last thing they want to talk about.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
