The code name for the operation to capture Bin Ladin was "Geronimo", the Indian who wouldn't surrender and whose tribe has yet to gain federal recognition.
Weeks after DOJ compared Al Queda to Seminoles in a court brief, Obama, whom the Crow tribe recognized as one of their own during the campaign, continues to demonize American Indians.
The first indication for President Obama that Osama bin Laden had been killed came when a Navy SEAL sent back the coded message to Washington that said simply, "Geronimo-E KIA."
Geronimo was the code name for the operation that sent two teams of 12 SEALS zooming by Blackhawk helicopters to a walled compound in Abbotabad, Pakistan, on Sunday to kill or capture the most wanted man in the world. Anxious White House officials weren't positive that they would find bin Laden in the fortress-like complex, that he might leave while the SEALS were en route.

Geronimo is a hero. Osama bin Ladin was a terrorist.
Geronimo resisted westward colonial expansion and "Manifest Destiny" and as a result, his tribe is still unrecognized by the federal government, punishment of his people for their resistance to imperialism, violence and genocide.
Weeks ago the Obama DOJ compared the Seminole resistance to American colonialism and removal policies as similar to Al Queda and "terrorism".
“Not only was the Seminole belligerency unlawful, but, much like modern-day al Qaeda, the very way in which the Seminoles waged war against U.S. targets itself violate the customs and usages of war.”

Which ignores the US Army's use of germ warfare and ethnic cleansing in spite of Supreme Court opinions by Justice John Marshall declaring such removals illegal (FUCK ANDREW JACKSON)...
So the question becomes: how could President Obama allow such an important military operation in American history to become another slander against American Indians?
Does anyone remember Lori Piestewa?

What the fuck is wrong with "our" President that he continually allows the demonization and comparison of Native Americans to our mutual enemies, Al Queda?
Or honestly, do I even need to ask.
As a federal attorney, currently attending an Indian Law conference...what the fuck?! Is this all we are to this government? Useful demonizations and court anecdotes?
Where's the commitment to civil rights and equality I expect from a Democratic President?
Geronimo? Really?
This isn't an eloquent or greatly researched diary. As are most of my diaries, it is expressive of the outrage which is unnecessarily inflicted upon all Americans...in this case Native Americans. But the slander that was committed in the naming of this military operations is another attempt at remaking history...the comparison of American Indian resistance to colonization, assimilation and termination policies are insufficiently similar to Al Queda and our 21st Century crusade against Islamic tribalism for the official policies and legal briefs of the United States government to attempt to make such comparison. It is racist and it is wrong and an official apology from the President is needed and demanded.
UPDATE:
I just ran my position through a Chirichuhua Apache and fellow law grad and student of critical race theory. It is racist. And in his words "unbelievable".
Update x2:
The initial reaction by "Democrats" is disheartening and yet somewhat expected. Native issues never rank high on Democratic radars. But when issues and facts are raised and are met with hostility and racism...
Hopefully another Native member of Dkos will see this and pick it up and put it words you moderate bastards can understand.
I'm outraged and I should be. You should be too.
