That's how they were sold to the American people and that's how the CBO scored them at the time. Why are we not highlighting that?
This does not constitute a diary according to dkos rules, but the point is so simple and (as far as I can tell) uncontested by our side. The deficit increasing tax cuts from 2001 were supposed to expire specifically because they would bust the budget. At the time we all knew that when the time came the republicans would reneg, but no one is calling them out. Wtf? The republicans were negotiating in bad faith then and they are now. Why is this point lost in the debate?
