People here have heard me say over and over again I am a military brat. My father worked at high-levels within the DoD. Well the other day I am reading some fantasy book and my phone starts to jump up off the table. Text messages from dad saying OBL is dead. Dead.
Now I consider myself a pretty non-violent dude. But I am on the record here saying a double-tap to the head for somebody like OBL isn't a bad thing .....
I am rethinking that below the fold.
Let me first say that when I eventually learned what my father did I was kind of stunned. The days of him doing ops and not teaching it were many years ago. But you know we all watch too much TV. In our world the special ops guy is like Rambo. Reality the guy isn't somebody you'd look at twice at a dinner party. Actually, as I've been told, that is kind of the point. You can be a bad ass mother fucker and look like the guy next door.
In the first day as the details came out my dad as always on these topics educated me. For example he explained long before it was reported they built the structure and practiced storming it. What is the phrase. Practice makes perfect. We practiced.
I heard the phrase used yesterday, "a clean and sweep" mission.
Now of course these folks don't just kill everybody. But if you think they go in like a cop and try to determine if you are a threat before they fire, then you are something short of stupid.
Again there is a part of me that likes this. If your daughter is taken I'd love the full force of my government to bare down on those folks that took her.
But alas, we live in a nation of laws.
In the initial aftermath, and I lost friends on 9/11, my thought was this isn't right. No joy. Now I just wonder why folks seem to get so much joy out of killing another person.
