From Kirkland Views
State Representative Roger Goodman(D) has filed with the Federal Election Commission and is challenging incumbent Republican Congressman Dave Reichert for the 8th Congressional District in 2012. Reichert is the U.S. Representative for Washington’s 8th congressional district, serving since 2005. Goodman, a resident of Kirkland, currently represents Washington’s 45th Legislative District, a position he has held since 2006.
At first glance, this seems like good news. Personally I don't appreciate having a Republican mouthpiece like Dave Reichert serving as my Representative to Congress. He may not be one of the most egregious members of Congress but he definitely does not represent my views.
Roger Goodman has a fairly decent reputation as a legislator, and he has been very vocal in his opposition to Governor Gregoire's veto of potions of the medical marijuana bill. This will probably buy him some support from the crowd who feels ending the war on the legal use of marijuana in this state is a big issue for them.
Interesting to note - I don't know much about Representative Goodman since he is not my Rep but when I went to Google to search for information the phrase "Drug Reformer" was attached to his name in the links to articles about him quite often. This could work for or against him, so we will have to wait and see.
I am sure more facts will follow this announcement, and if anyone has anything to add about Representative Goodman I would be very interested in reading more.
