I’m a Martin Luther King ‘I have a dream …’ kind of person.
I wholly and completely support Israel’s right to exist, securely, peacefully, happily and prosperously.
I also wholly and completely support the Palestinians’ right to live securely, peacefully, happily and prosperously in Palestine.
I have a great distaste for almost all of the people in the current government of Israel and I also have a great distaste for many of the Palestinian leaders and I am unsure about most of the others.
I believe it is very possible to achieve peace between Palestinians, Israelis and Arabs.
When I boil it all down I see four problems:
Animosity - just stop it. People in the region - and people outside of the region - have been violently disagreeing with, hating, fighting and killing each other over this for a long time. Isn’t it enough? It’s worked out well, hasn’t it? Just stop it. Turn it off. Have a heart.
Money - money for compensation and development - this is the easy one, a fraction of the money which has been, and is being, thrown down the hellhole of arms would easily be more than enough money.
Water - this is a little more difficult, but water conservation and recent developments in desalinization and renewable energy would solve most of the problem. And to make up the deficit pump it in from Turkey.
Demographics - putting that many people in that small a space (Israel and Palestine) is difficult but by no means impossible. There would probably have to be a fair amount of urbanization in some areas, but with a really good plan balancing agriculture, industry and housing, and enough money (See above) for construction and development it can be done. It would take about 10 years to complete but it can be done.
