The last possible Democrat to announce his/her retirement, Herb Kohl has done indeed just that, the Washington Post reports Herb Kohl will not seek re-election next November. Kohl, 71, loaned his campaign 1-million dollars last year making it seem like he would run but today pulled the plug on any such effort.
This immediately sparked a question in my mind, who will replace him? Who has the name recognition and the power to unite an entire base?
The answer? Bring back Russ Feingold.
People have seen what they have lost in Feingold. Feingold was ousted in 2010, a tough Democratic year which saw major losses across the board. I think people are starting to realize ESPECIALLY IN WISCONSIN what changes the republicans want to bring. Democrats cannot be thrilled with their Gov. Scott Walker who has taken away almost all rights of unions and will not even let them come to the bargaining table. We also see Rep. Paul Ryan, the architect of the GOP budget which would slash millions from social programs people survive on.
This could potentially be the perfect year for Feingold to make a comeback and look for sources to be speaking with Feingold regarding a potential run to take place very soon.
