As New York state teeters dangerously nearer to the precipice of passing marriage equality implementing the Gay Secular Fascist Agenda, radical, activist Theocrats of New York aren't taking this laying down! No siree!
Sunday, the New York Interfaith Theocratic Party rallied in the Bronx to send an important message to leaders in Albany:
"The Baby Jesus cries when you follow the Constitution and not the Bible!"
Also:
"Billions of taxpayer dollars spent on the LGBT agenda are bankrupting the country!"
A photo diary after the fold. Bronx photos courtesy of Joe Jervis of JoeMyGod blog. Used with permission, unlike National Organization For Marriage who stole the video Joe shot of their rally and posted it to their own YouTube channel.
Doesn't the Bible say something about stealing? Or does it not count if it's only gay people you are stealing from? It's not like they're real people worthy of respectfully asking permission before you take their stuff or anything.
Well, the Hebrew part is original!
NOM's Brian Brown locking arms with the Senator in the cowboy hat. Looks kinda gay—not that there's anything wrong with that!
The Government is spending billions of taxpayer dollars on the LGBT agenda? Who knew? The things you learn at hate rallies!
Senator Diaz with the mic. Rev. Ortega of Radio Visión Cristiana, off Diaz's left shoulder, delivered these Christian words of gay people:
“Those who practice such things
are worthy to death.”
Senator Diaz and rally sponsor National Organization for Marriage have, four days later, still made no statement expressing any disagreement with Rev. Ortega's sentiments.
My, don't they look like they're having fun?!
What's most disappointing about the Interfaith Theocratic Party's platform is how truly centrist its agenda is. Their reductionist messaging that "Marriage Is Between One Man and One Woman" reveals them to be both disappointingly unimaginative in their ideas about marriage and thoroughly ignorant about its Biblical history.
Fortunately, we have America's Best Christian Betty Bowers of Landover Baptist Church to explain to us the true way to go about having an authentic Bible-based marriage. It's an eye-opener and the most educational four minutes you'll spend this week.
Meanwhile, Just A Few Miles South...
Simultaneously Sunday, just a few miles away in New York City's Central Park more than 20 times as many people,
who aren't insane with hatred for gay people, found something else to do.
Over 40,000 New Yorkers skipped Diaz's little hate fest
to raise nearly $6 million to combat HIV at the
New York AIDS Walk.
The event has grown in 26 years to become the largest AIDS charity fundraiser in the world. The funds raised will go to HIV infection prevention outreach and education programs and medical care services. It is a major source of small, local community initiatives.
As reported earlier, Ruben Diaz did manage to make an appearance by proxy at the event, a photo-op station was arranged by LGBT activist group Queer Rising. They called it, RuBen's Drag Race. Senator Diaz has been known to wear some flamboyant outfits, and Sunday's may have been his biggest hit ever! It was met with great approval. A pity the Reverend/Senator is so apathetic to the high rates of infection in his own borough of the Bronx.
You can check out hundreds more pics at the Ruben's Drag Race Tumblr page.
Episcopal Response to AIDS Team Leader, Judith Mason.
Among the marchers who had no time for hate or fear of rain, were parishioners of Manhattan's St. Thomas Episcopal, who joined the Episcopal Response to AIDS team. ERANY was honored for registering 188 walkers and raising over $62,000 to benefit many disadvantaged, poor New Yorkers without access to health care, very many of them LGBT.
What a Christian way to spend a Sunday!
(And don't they kind of look like they're having way more fun?)
I am sure Jesus would approve, Betty Bowers? Who knows?
