Apparently Rand Paul recently made a speech denouncing the Democrats' attempt to rescind oil industry subsidies, then he doubled down by proposing a suspension of the federal gasoline tax. One would think that would elicit a hearty "Heck Yes!" from auto enthusiasts, but comments at car blog The Truth About Carsare overwhelmingly negative.
I've been reading and commenting at the site for a couple years, it's not unusual for discussions to get political and the left/right split is usually 50/50. But nobody's drinking Ryan's kool-aid. Another sign that the Republicans are losing their mojo?
