The following photos were taken from the 4th floor north side of the radiation treatment facility at Fukushima Diiachi Nuclear Power Station on March 11, 2011 between 3:42 and 3:57 pm.
Looking at these photos I can't help but think of the two young men who were killed possibly while these were being taken. And in light of the recent information regarding the first few hours after the quake hit, I have to wonder why those young men were in the basement. What was so critical that they would be sent there knowing the tsunami was on its way. While we may or may not ever find out through the slow trickle of information from Tepco, I hope if those men lost their lives trying to save others that their families were told.
Updated to add--the two tanks seen in most of the photos of the interior of the plant sit 10 meters above sea level with the larger one standing 5.5 meters high. The blue building in the background is unit 4.
