Having had no realistic chance of being Raptured, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is up to its usual business:

The Tonawanda News puts it succinctly:
The special election for New York’s 26th congressional seat has been downright dirty and after the most recent blatant effort to deceive voters — which comes at this newspaper’s expense — it is time to place the blame squarely where it belongs: On the shoulders of Republican candidate Jane Corwin and her increasingly desperate raft of supporters.
As reported yesterday byTalking Points Memo, the pro-Corwin Chamber of Commerce produced a video ad implying the local Tonawanda paper had endorsed Corwin, when in reality the newspaper had done no such thing. The ad selectively and dishonestly quotes the paper out of context to create the impression that it favors Corwin.
Essentially what the Chamber did is portray Corwin's own statements ("job-killing tax hikes," etc.) as statements made by the paper itself.
Two position statements made by Corwin in the chamber’s advertisement carry a large source tag on the screen referencing the April 19 edition of the Tonawanda News. Casual viewers are left with the clear impression that this newspaper has endorsed Corwin’s position or that we have somehow validated her argument.
Dishonest? Yeah. Blatantly so.

According to the Tonawanda News, the ad talks mainly about high taxes and jobs. It shows various quotes from local newspapers to tout Corwin's record. Some of those quotes appear to be from the Tonawanda News editor. One claims that Corwin will "end harmful spending" that's getting in the way of jobs. Tonawanda News Managing Editor Eric Duvall said this ad has it all wrong. He said that the quote was printed in the paper but it's not a statement from the editor but a quote from Corwin.
"We're sourced twice, once something about business regulations, the other tax cuts. The reality is, those are from a news story we wrote covering campaign event. So really she's sourcing herself not us," Duvall said.
The Tonawanda News Editorial staff blasts Corwin and the Chamber:
The fact that a newspaper — one at which the writers and editors work diligently to bring readers unbiased, accurate reporting and responsible opinions — is being misappropriated for a political profit is shameful.
Corwin claims that not only can she do nothing about the "independent ad" but that the law precludes her from calling out the ad as dishonest.
Aside from having the ad changed or pulled from broadcast, Harakal [Corwin Campaign spokesman] said Corwin is prohibited to correct the information publicly on her own.
“That’s just the way campaign law works,” he said.
That's a real whopper. And of course, it's a lie.
Just think about that for a second. An independent group that you had "nothing to do with" puts out a deliberately false ad. Corwin is saying that she is not allowed to publically correct the ad, or even comment on its veracity.
"Campaign law" doesn't say that, and it never has.
Jane Corwin is just a liar.
