After our surprise victory in NY 26, last night, Democrats are abuzz about how the GOP have misplayed the Medicare issue, and we are asking ourselves how can we elevate these perceptions to the next level. Chris Matthews showed this video last night, that some may be over the top. But, here it is to promote discussions. Warning: Do not watch this video if you might be upset seeing even a fictional, sweet, elderly grandma in a wheel chair being dumped off a high cliff by a faceless Republican.
As insensitive as it may be, it is no where near as insensitive as the GOP, to turn Medicare into a voucher program, and this video gets the point across in 60 seconds more simply than anything else I've seen. Voter need to know Republicans are no friend to our seniors, the disabled, and needy, and our vitial Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid programs. This is my first video embed in a diary, so please let me know if I should do it differntly. If you have trouble with this embed the original is at
Micheal Moore is on Lawrence O'Donnell's Last word saying the Republicans have made the blunder of the century, and that the GOP's 2012 plan is to go after the Democrats on our Health Bill that took $500 billion out of Medicare.
I paraphrase here when he says, 'the Democrats have to make sure, we don't play into this. Don't say, "everything is on the table." Say No! Medicare, and Social Secuirity are off the table.' I agree.
O'Donnell is asking "how will Democrats blow it." Moore says, if we say we'll compromise with them on these Medicare cuts. How can we get this message to Obama and the debt-ceiling compromise team?
BTW
I didn't get enough attention for my "humorous" Paul Ryan diary Tuesday morning so I'm still pimping it. It's on the same topic. here's a taste. Please go and take that poll too.
Paul Ryan Does Deer In Headling Impressions to Cheer Up House GOP Thrown Under Bus By McConnel
WASHINGTON -- Representative Paul Ryan tried to cheer up House Republicans despondent upon hearing that Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will not whip Senate Republicans to vote for Ryan's budget bill, by making animal impressions like the one shown here, of a "deer caught in the headlights of on on-coming Mack Truck." House Republicans became so angry upon hearing this shocking news, that their senate leader was throwing them under a bus, after they had just walked the plank on this bill, that Paul Ryan decided a little animal impression humor might help.
When news of McConnell's Sunday interview was announced this morning, moans, gags, and shouts of profanities erupted on the House floor.
Although Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has said he will vote for Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) controversial budget plan, he's not out whipping other members to join him and he's not even saying whether he supports all of its provisions.
"What I've said to our members is we're not going to be able to coalesce behind just one [plan]," McConnell said in an interview with Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday." He pointed out that both Sens. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) have budget plans of their own that some members of Congress may want to support.
"Candidly, Chris, none of these budgets are going to become law," McConnell admitted.
This last statement brought howls of agony from House GOP reps who have just returned from scathing town hall meetings, and recent polls showing support for the congressional GOP down 11%.
So Paul Ryan jumped up and did his famous impression of a deer caught in the headlights.
House Minority leader Nancy Pelocy (D-CA), responded, "now you know how American Medicare, and Social Security recipients feel." This brought cheers, and laughter from the house Democrats.
Senator Harry Reid deserves credit for the political intincts to force the Republicans to vote on the Paul Ryan budget which makes enormous cuts to the Medicare bill, which is turning out to be highly unpopular with our seniors.
