Boehner tries to rewrite history
Well, this didn't take long, did it?
At 11:40 ET this morning, John Boehner was quoting the media's praise of the GOP's "new" jobs plan on the Speaker of the House website.
But 20 minutes after I pointed out that ABC News and Politico were actually quoting the GOP praising its own jobs plan, Boehner added a clarification:
UPDATED @ 12:00PM: Clarified the source of ABC News and Politico reports.
So this:
ABC News says "the plan is designed 'to foster innovation and investment, tackle our debt, and help business owners create jobs without raising taxes on working families and small businesses.'"
becomes this:
ABC News reports, “According to Republicans, the plan is designed ‘to foster innovation and investment, tackle our debt, and help business owners create jobs without raising taxes on working families and small businesses.’” The Wall Street Journal says “the plan calls for ‘significant spending cuts’ to rein in government deficits.”
And this:
Politico’s Huddle says the plan would "[p]romote lower energy prices through increased domestic production," "[c]ontinue to open new markets to American made products," and much more.Politico’s Huddle says the plan would "[p]romote lower energy prices through increased domestic production," "[c]ontinue to open new markets to American made products," and much more.
becomes this:
Politico’s Huddle highlights bullets from the GOP plan that note it would “[p]romote lower energy prices through increased domestic production,” “[c]ontinue to open new markets to American made products,” and much more.
You think Boehner reads Daily Kos?
Well, thanks for reading, John, but you know what? Your "new" jobs plan still sucks.
