Chronic unhinged batshit moron Brian Nieves (R), who represents Franklin, Warren, and Far West STL County in MO SD-26, is back in the news again-- this time for berating a constituent named Tom Smith from Washington, MO.
From Fired Up! Missouri!:
The Senator from Franklin has lost his mind on Facebook again, this time complaining at length about a constituent named Tom Smith of Washington.
The target Brian Nieves' ire is Tom Smith of Washington, described by the Senator as "just another Liberal NEA Activist" who is also "Sub-Human and, in my humble opinion, a Very Dangerous man who must be shown for what he is."
He attacked him as a "sub-human, thug, cretin," and "a dangerous Liberal."
Maybe the dates didn't need to be said, but the quote is pretty benign and was used to illustrate the fact that Nieves used the conference as an excuse to blow off constituents but was later seen standing around talking with other Senators.
But Nieves response was absolutely, unambiguously outrageous. In the following video, from Michelle Moore's USTREAM feed from May 19, you'll see Nieves calling Smith "Sub-Human," a "thug," an "idiot," and "less than a man." You'll also see that Nieves goes out of his was to say "Tom Smith, retired NEA teacher from Washington Missouri" over and over and even shamefully says the street that Smith lives on:
Even more in the St. Louis Activist Hub:
Nieves (who makes Dana Loesch almost look sane in comparison) is unfit to serve in the Missouri State Senate, and should be recalled and/or jailed.
More where that came from:
Nieves told his co-host Michelle Moore falsely claimed that opposing letters were from "Liberal blogs," when in fact they came from the hardly Liberal at all Washington Missourian.
During an unhinged facebook rant where he called one of his constituents "sub-human" approximately one week after an unhinged radio rant where he called one of his constituents "sub-human," and "less than a man," State Senator Brian Nieves announced that he'd have a lot to say about the scandal on his radio show that's co-hosted by Michelle Moore on Thursdays. Moore livestreams the program, which allows comments to be picked up when the radio is not on air. As you might imagine, Nieves says some pretty interesting things.
From the 05.26.2011 edition of KWMO's The Patriot Enclave w/ Brian Nieves:
Even more unhinged stupidity from Nieves:
Like a true bully/coward, Nieves is completely against the idea, claiming that "he's run in to these people" many times and that they try to bait him into a situation where "there's no way to win the argument."
Show Me Progress blogger sarah jo has an excellent take:
I am in Williamsburg, VA, and yesterday I heard Thomas Jefferson say that there will always be differences of opinion among men but that civilized men with manners can always find a solution to these differences. Poor old Tom would turn, no spin, in his grave if he knew how uncivilized politicians have become in our century. And, particularly, how hostile, irrational and vicious a certain state senator in Missouri has become.
Background: Missouri NEA and retired NEA members have been appealing to Republican legislators to represent the common good instead of taking their marching orders from the American Legislative Exchange Council. ALEC's goal is to dismantle our public education system in order to open up investment opportunities for private companies in the education business. Although charter schools were originally a good idea, they are now being used by rich and powerful entities to divert public funds into private pockets.
My friend who was the target of Nieves' attack called the Capitol Police to report the incident and was told that the police don't file charges unless there is physical contact. They then called the Senate Leader Rob Mayer who told them basically that this is how Nieves is and they shouldn't have elected him if they didn't want him to represent them. Thanks a lot, Sen. Mayer. So much for the gentlemen's code of conduct in what passes for representative government in Missouri today.
Here are the letters lambasting Nieves from the Washington Missourian's Letters To The Editor page:
Frank Rogan of Pacific, MO wrote: wrote:
While sitting in his outer office, I listened to the senator as he screamed at the teacher. The senator felt his family was put in danger by a letter to the editor that the teacher had written. The letter revealed the dates that the senator was going to be out of town for a conference. I don’t quite understand how that had threatened the senator’s family. It sounded like he was trying to make the teacher take a swing at him.
I felt that it was the perfect example of bullying.
Sen. Nieves needs to go; too bad we have three more years before we can vote him out. I hope Franklin County voters can see that we have a bully representing us.
Lloyd Klinedinst of Villa Ridge, MO wrote:
I know bullying when I see it and, even more clearly I know it, when I experience it. I begin with my experience and end with a few references to Sen. Nieves’ pattern of bullying.
I witnessed in proximity of 10 feet Sen. Nieves’ shouting and name-calling and moving to less than three inches from Mr. Smith’s body and face, all seeming to be efforts to incite Smith to retaliate. At one point I held out my hands next to the two and asked if they could sit down and start over in a civil conversation.
Sen. Nieves then shouted at me and repeated his foul language and his intention to accuse and abuse Smith. Also during this tirade of abuse, Sen. Nieves held out the e-mail and LTE which Smith had composed and sent to the newspaper and to Sen. Nieves. He told Smith to take them and to take what turned out to be the police report which Shawn Bell had written when he experienced a far worse, physical abuse from the senator.
P.S. Sen. Nieves continued to radio-bully Mr. Smith by reviling him on May 18 and 19 — “Nieves Patriot Enclave Radio Talk Show,” including revealing Mr. Smith’s home address — talk about endangering one’s family.
Tom Smith of Washington, MO wrote:
On May 11, I and others stopped by his office in the Capitol to talk about educational issues and newly proposed bills pertaining to education in Missouri. Instead, I personally received 20 minutes of Mr. Nieves shouting at the top of his lungs, his very own “hip-hop” scatological rant. A tour-de-force of three-word epithets from “you fucki n' prick, to you fucking pussy, you piece of fuck” etc., and other vitriolic variations that would make the most seasoned sailor blush.
What I experienced in Mr. Nieves’ office was a grown man acting like a playground bully. This from an elected official, who is addressed as the honorable senator, is a disgrace to the office he represents. Regardless of the anger he feigns about a newspaper opinion, this is no way for a sitting senator to be conducting himself in front of constituents or his staff.
I spoke with the Capitol Police and the Senate Pro Tem Sen. Mayer, and expressed my disdain of Mr. Nieves’ behavior, and asked if there was a process for a police complaint or a Senate Ethics Committee; sadly, no. Sen. Mayer said the only recourse is, “You all voted him in, now you’ll have to vote him out.”
I’m all for that to happen, but we are in for a long wait until the next election. Hopefully, we will elect someone who can fulfill their oath of office and “respect the rights of all persons.”
Nieves trashing "the libruls" again:
Ever notice how Liberals tend to begin a conversation by ATTACKING & being Rude & Ugly and then complain if you are anything less than Sweet?
Even the most liberal person who is also intellectually honest AND reasonable, would be SHOCKED at much of the contact I get from liberals!! It's truly amazing! I bet many of them have "COEXIST" bumper stickers on their car while Attacking those who do not agree with them! It's almost funny!!
Anyway... Maybe I'm wrong but I tend to (not always) respond in "Like Manor" and I know, I know - Somebody will say I shouldn't but Oh My Goodness you just have no idea how Ugly & Insulting these people are if you don't do what they want you to do! If you don't agree that we should "Save the Whales & Kill the Babies" they attack attack ATTACK!!
This Missouri Senator has a very long history of such behavior, and people should vote his ass out when his term ends.
