Last week, Readers and Book Lovers initiated a new writing exercise series. We chose a theme (them), and commenters submitted written entries of precisely 100 words. I have chosen my favorite out of the many several entries. That entry, and that entrants choices for our new writing exercise, below the fold.
Out of the entrants shown in the comments here, (and one entry out of the reminder diary), I have chosen this entry by Jaxpagan:
If there is an I, and there is a You,
Then I am Me, and you are Other,
Divided by names and lines.
Unless you are like me,
In all the ways I measure.
Then we are We, and the rest are Them.
Divided by names and lines.
But,
What if the names and lines,
Are glamours and lies?
If I am You and He and She,
Who is Them?
If each stirring in my soul,
Is a vibration in a spider’s web,
Which strands are Them?
If We are All, and All are We,
Who is Them?
No one.
Congratulations to Jaxpagan, and to all the other entrants.
That brings us to our new writing exercise: 5 Words.
In this exercise, the last entry winner picks any five words. Entrants are then called upon to write something, of any length or style. The one requirement is that the entry contain each of the five words chosen by the last entry winner.
The following are the five words chosen by Jaxpagan:
Butterfly
Door
Typewriter
Illuminate
Seldom
When you submit your work, bold the five words as they appear in your entry. Jaxpagan will choose his/her favorite entry, and that entry winner will have their work highlighted the following Tuesday, and will choose the theme for the next 100 Word series entry, as well as their favorite entry out of that lot.
Got it? Note: we will be accepting entries until Thursday at noon. That should give everyone a fair chance to write an entry.
Message me with any questions. Good writing!
