I hate to write about Sarah Palin (who?) but after what I just read I felt compelled. Palin (who?) is seriously on a "learning tour", going around the country to different historical landmarks to learn about things from our history. Because I guess she skipped out on half of her history lessons? I don't know. So, this woman who is probably running for president is taking a remedial history course by visiting these places up close.
So, she went to Gettysburg. Gettysburg, as you know, was the site of a famous Civil War battle. Lots of lives lost. Bad time in our history, and instigated because of our practice of slavery.
So, what does Palin have to say at Gettysburg?
The purpose is to make people aware that there are good things in America that really need to be restored and appreciated.
So, she went to the site of a Civil War battle... and said it's important for people to see that there are good things in America that need to be restored (because they no longer exist?) What could we have possibly lost after the Civil War that needs to be "restored" that was "good" about America?
I would have been willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on this but I remembered Reagan's campaign kickoff in 1980.
The whole article reads like a big parody. Palin basically says things and occasionally throws out buzzwords mid-conversation. This is bizarre.
