At least I think that's what this is all about.
Ben Shapiro, syndicated columnist and confessed Muppet murderer wannabe, has put his finger on the greatest threat to America's innocent, doe-eyed children. It's not drugs or guns or crumbling schools or parents having to work three jobs or even gangsta rap.
It's Elmo. And Big Bird.
Appearing on Sean Hannity's FOXOpinion show, Shapiro claimed Sesame Street is a liberal indoctrination machine for today's impressionable tots.
Shapiro's assertions were backed up by noted numismatics and elections expert Ken Blackwell (his credentials in early childhood education were not mentioned), who expanded on Shapiro's concerns about Sesame Street's anti-gender-bias bias by suggesting that such conditioning might have led to the recent crowning of a young gay man as prom queen.
Perhaps most surprising was the initial exchange between Hannity and Shapiro in the segment:
Hannity: Every kid in America is gonna hate you. You're taking on Elma and Sesame Street and Big Bird in your book.
Shapiro: Yeah, I kinda wanna take 'em out back and cap 'em.
It's not entirely clear whether Shapiro was referring to the children or the Muppets, though it is to be hoped he meant the latter.
Still, a word of warning, Mr. S: Those felty friends may be more dangerous than you think.
