Elections are brewing tonight in a few different jurisdictions. At 8pm Eastern, polls close in New Jersey, where would-be legislators are battling it out in primaries — a few of whom are suffering from district dislocation thanks to the state's new maps. Patrick Murray of the Monmouth University Polling Institute has a helpful guide to some of the more hotly contested races.
Across the country, voters are picking mayors in the interior West's second- and third-largest cities. In Denver, the runoff is between two Democrats, state Sen. Chris Romer and city councilman Michael Hancock, though Romer has drawn a lot of GOP support. The one recent public poll of the race, by SUSA, showed Hancock with a sizable 49-39 lead. This election was triggered by the resignation of John Hickenlooper, who was elected governor last year. It's an all-mail election, so we may know the results fairly quickly after tonight's 7pm local (9pm Eastern) deadline to drop off ballots.
Finally, in Las Vegas, we have another runoff, this time between Carolyn Goodman and Chris Giunchigliani. Goodman is the wife of current independent Mayor Oscar Goodman, who is term-limited, while Giunchigliani is a Clark County commissioner. (Clark is by far Nevada's largest county and the one in which Vegas sits.) Giunchigliani (aka "Chris G") is a Democrat; Goodman calls herself an independent but has relied on Republican polling firm Magellan Strategies. Surveys have tended to show Goodman ahead. Polls here close at 7pm local time (10pm Eastern).

6:44 PM PT: The Denver Post calls the race for Michael Hancock, who's currently leading 57-43.
