After Citizens United: Combating Corporate Power in Elections Thu - 3:00pm
The Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United vs. FEC handed corporate interests enormous unchecked power in the democratic process. Last November, in the first election since the decision, we saw its real results: outside groups, many of whom kept their donors secret, poured unprecedented amounts of money into campaigns to elect pro-corporate members of Congress. Now, as the GOP House majority attempts to pass radical deregulation and slash social services, corporate interests are seeing a powerful return on their investments. This panel will explore ways that progressives can harness the widespread anger about Citizens United to create strong state- and local-level movements, find solutions at the federal level and prevent corporations from buying the 2012 elections.

Moving Forward with Faith Thu - 3:00pm
Yes we can? The last two years have been a disappointment for many in the progressive community as numerous policy setbacks were followed by a hard election. But despite setbacks, a few victories stand out--passage of the new START treaty, repeal of DADT and the passage of healthcare reform. One thing these successes have in common is that progressives worked to integrate faith and values messaging and outreach into their overall strategy. A clear lesson to from our recent history is that faith and values communities are increasingly proving to be critical to successful progressive advocacy. In this panel, we'll look at lessons learned in the past two years, share opportunities to expand relationships with online faith communities and discuss how to create campaigns that incorporate faith and values messaging into long-term progressive strategies.

Protecting Reproductive Rights in Your State Thu - 3:00pm
Although national coverage about abortion rights is usually dominated by fights at the federal level, many recent attacks on women's reproductive health have taken place in the states. In 2010, almost 1,000 such measures were introduced, and 89 were enacted. With anti-choice policymakers in control of a number of additional state legislatures and governorships, hostility to abortion rights has ramped up even further. This session aims to prepare local and online activists to fight back by providing analysis, strategies and success stories for countering harmful policies close to home.

The signing of a "Don't Ask Don't Tell" repeal act late last year demonstrated change was possible, but it did not come without a fight.
