What Are You Working On is a community diary series for all things crafty, in a variety of mediums and techniques.
You may volunteer to guest host by signing up at this yahoo group, which I check from time to time. Also by joining this group, you will receive one email a week when the diary is posted. You may also volunteer to host by posting a comment in this diary.
If you click on the WAYWO group, there is a box for the group about 4 boxes down on the right hand side. If you click on the heart in this box, you will "follow" this group and the diary will appear in your "stream."
Seeking a host for next week, while I am on NN travel.
Today I am in the midst of various knitting projects. Also supervising Father's Day Projects. And packing for NN, prepping the kids for camp, and getting them ready for a week at their dad's while I'm gone.
Why do you sew? Why do you knit? Why do you paint? Why do you draw?
Why do you do the creative activity you're doing?
Are you process-oriented or product-oriented?
I'm a process gal - I love trying new techniques or stitches and stuff like that.
I've spend considerably less time with my sewing machine since the kids have gone to school, but I knit a LOT more. It's portable.
One of my favorite reasons to be creative is that it stays done, for the most part. It's not like laundry and dishes and other housekeeping stuff that gets done over and over.
It's also really enjoyable to give things away. I had a ball making this scarf for the Netroots Nation auction:
And I love knitting for my kids. And knitting my kids ;-)
And I am even getting to love knitting for myself ;-)
I also love teaching my kids knitting and sewing skills.
And I love to encourage them to be creative with whatever is on hand:
World Wide Knit in Public Days is now 'til June 19th! So if you knit or crochet or hand-stitch anything, do it in public! With friends if possible.
Why do you do what you're working on?
