President Obama and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz jumped the shark in over done Weiner bashing. Both called for Anthony Weiner's resignation because they claim he can no longer represent his constituents in the manner he was elected to do. This lowers the bar so low that any Representative who is medically incapacitated and unable to perform his/her duties should "step aside"
Wassermann -Schultz actually made that assertion about quality of representation on the very same day she said her good friend, Representative Gabrielle Giffords had just the previous day started to be able to initiate sentences instead of only being able to respond to questions and statements made by others. I am sure neither the President nor Representative Wasserman-Schultz wants to suggest that the heroic fight that Representative Giffords is waging is such a "distraction on a personal level" that she should "step back" and resign. But that is exactly what is implied by their over the top lowering of standards used to determine who should or should not be allowed to remain in Congress.
8:03 PM PT: Some apparent speed readers assume I am conflating Giffords and Weiner. Wrong. I am pointing out that Democrats are seemingly trying to one-up each other in their condemnation of Weiner. This leads to the unintended consequence I mentioned.
