First, I apologize for not putting out the drinks last night. I got caught up in kid world and it hit 11:00 PM Eastern, and I realized--OH NO! I didn't have the happy hour! By then, I was even too tired for a night cap. So, tonight, I just realized that Michele is probably traveling, packing, keeping kitties in one piece--or in the best of worlds--resting; so we needed to get the party started!
I have had a hectic time. Daughter needed to be at a friend's house. Son had to be at drumline practice. Pick up daughter, pick up son. Meet husband at the garage. His car has been making phantom sounds. I had to take daughter to the Apple store for a broken iTouch.
In between all this, I stayed at work late last night to mentor 2 new speech therapists. My supervisor requested that I mentor these ladies, and I have enjoyed my time with them immensely. They energize me with new ideas, and I am able to share my expertise without having to be a supervisor! It has been rewarding for this mentor.
My mentor, professionally, was a wonderful woman named Charlene. She taught me to how to have fun and be goofy with the kids, while being professional and doing the job. She taught me that sometimes, the kid wins. She let me know it was OK to try new things. She showed me new techniques and showed me how to stay sane when your caseload was beyond ridiculous.
And now, I am paying it forward :-)
How about all of you? Have you been a mentor? Do you have someone who was a mentor?
And most importantly, how was your day? What was for dinner? Netroots Nation?
