This diary makes a lot of good points but I will tell you the bottom line as I see it.
Is it possible to "help" build support for the President's reelection at daily kos by not insulting and ridiculing those with more than robust negative feelings for the President? No, because political difference is not suppose to be a personal vendetta and some of these people who hold a robust negative feelings actually just don't like the President personally if not hate him. I personally don't find some of them adding value to helping Democrats. In fact, these people don't have any business being in a Democratic site.
Is it possible to "help" build support for progressive policy positions at daily kos by insulting and ridiculing supporters of the President? I think the answer is NO because that's what Democrats do. They support their President until they have a viable and better candidate to primary him or her with. Until then, we have to hold our nose and support him or her until the time comes to electing a better Democrat.
"Do diaries that attack our Democratic President at daily kos for not thinking about things as you do help?" I think the answer is NO because that is what is called purist mentality and you can't shove that ideology in a democratic site dedicating to elect more and better Democrats. If one has to criticize, do it without being personal and on policy. A lot of people on the edge about our President are good at doing it except some. If you don't like some Democrats, you push for them to be primaried with a viable candidate and run a campaign to elect a better democrat. As for the Presidency, don't throw Kucinich or Garyson. While we like their fighting spirit and is commendable, that never wins election in American Politics. At least not just yet.
I will tell you what does not help without dissecting the basics. This goes for every Democratic lawmaker.
We are Democrats at least the majority of us here.
If we don't agree with any Democratic lawmaker, we should keep our dissatisfaction to the policies. Going after them personally unless they send their weewee on the internet should be off limit.
We don't have to personalize the policy dissatisfaction with sensationalism and misrepresentation of facts.
No matter what some say calling the leader of the Democratic party, in a site that is dedicated to electing more and better Democrats, a constitutional rapist and a piece of shit does not help.
Calling for the President's impeachment or imprisonment does not help.
Denigrating the president with nasty rhetoric such as "corporatist" and "snake oil" who is AGAINST the American people does not help.
Saying Obama is the problem not the solution is straight out trollish and does not help.
Calling strong supporters of the President and belittling them as blind followers, O-bots, cheerleaders and cult worshipers, etc., does not help.
Personalizing politics because you don't like supporters of the President and writing diaries to misrepresent facts using an anonymous sources to intentionally portray the Administration in a negative light does not help.
Calling the most gay friendly President a homophobe and saying the AG is running by Jim Crow policies does not help.
Denying the accomplishment of this administration or belittling it does not help.
Calling for a better messaging from the White House and trashing everything the White House is trying to do does not help to accomplish what you claim you want.
Denigrating an organization that is dedicated to electing our President and by default all Democrats, OFA, as a shill organization working against Democratic Principle does not help.
If you don't see being a Democrat as an intersectional commitment to achieve many big tent issues, you are not helpful.
You get my drift?
Thinking pure ain't for everyone. If you can't respect my way of thinking and ridicule me, I am not going to let you slap me on both cheeks.
One cheek is enough!
As this diary notes:
The 2012 elections are just around the corner. For daily kos, this will be the first election in its existence that has had a sitting Democratic President. This is new ground for all of us. Let's try and help.
