Bachmann
says she's not a joke
Looks like Michele Bachmann's
surge in the polls isn't limited to Iowa: PPP has her
leading the field in both Oregon and Montana—assuming Sarah Palin doesn't run.
Public Policy Polling (6/16-19, Oregon Republican primary voters):
Michele Bachmann 29%
Mitt Romney 28%
Ron Paul 10%
Newt Gingrich 9%
Herman Cain 7%
Tim Pawlenty 6%
Jon Hunstman 2%
(MoE: ±6.1%)
Public Policy Polling (6/16-19, Montana Republican primary voters):
Michele Bachmann 25%
Mitt Romney 22%
Ron Paul 10%
Newt Gingrich 11%
Tim Pawlenty 9%
Herman Cain 8%
Jon Hunstman 4%
(MoE: ±5%)
If Palin were to run, she would lead the field in Montana but Romney would lead Oregon. Romney's numbers in Oregon are unchanged with Palin's entry in the race—he gets 28% either way. However, Palin would take some of Bachmann's support, allowing Romney to squeeze out a victory. Fortunately for Bachmann, Palin doesn't appear to be running.
Bachmann's strong showing in these polls adds weight to the assessment Markos offered yesterday when he made the case for why Michele Bachmann will be the Republican nominee.
