Last night Frontline aired a report about for-profit "colleges" ripping off returning war veterans for their GI Bill money.
Listed among the Benedict Arnold companies was the University of Phoenix Online which Chris Christie lobbied for during Christie's extensive extensive lobbying career. Much like his lobbying work for another controversial for-profit education comapny, Edison Schools Inc, Christie's Trenton Insider behavior working for University of Phoenix Online would also draw criticism:
The reports also show that Christie’s firm paid about $1,900 for then-Assemblyman Rudy Garcia, D-Hudson, to travel to Arizona in 1999 for a tour and meetings at the University of Phoenix. The school was trying to obtain a higher education license in New Jersey, according to the documents.
This is particularly ironic given that Brian Stack has made it difficult to deduce where Stack's lips end and Christie's ass begins. Stack came to prominence in Union City as a good government reformer by bashing the indicted but not convicted city's mayor, Rudy Garcia.
Going forward it might be useful to remember not only Christie's checkered past as a lobbyist but the character of the politicians now doing business with him - especially the Benedict Arnold's of the Democratic Party.
