Don’t call me offended.
I want to say that I am offended. I am offended a lot, especially after reading certain diaries recently. Words and phrases you privileged few use everyday as if it were common language, actually offend me.
Don’t call me offended.
I want to say that I am offended. I am offended a lot, especially after reading certain diaries recently. Words and phrases you privileged few use everyday as if it were common language, actually offend me.
For example, have you used the word “fair” recently? Well, as a person of color, I find that word offensive. “Fair” implies that “dark” things are anti-justice and dishonest. Thus “fair” is an offensive word, and must be removed from everyone’s vocabulary.
Have you ever used the word “damn” or any variation thereof? As a person with a Christian father, I am offended. That word should be reserved for something that is comparable to punishment that can only be delivered only by God. Thus “damn” is an offensive phrase, and must be removed from everyone’s vocabulary.
Have you used the phrase “red meat” to describe something that is the main target of someone’s aims? Well, as a Hindu, I am grossly affected by that phrase, as I am unable, due to my religion, to eat red meat. Thus “red meat” is an offensive phrase, and must be removed from everyone’s vocabulary.
Have you ever used the word “spineless” to indicate that someone doesn’t have the confidence or strength to follow through on certain issues? Well, as someone who has two herniated discs, I find it unfair (or should I say, “undarkened”) that such a word is used to describe such a demeanor. Thus “spineless” is an offensive phrase, and must be removed from everyone’s vocabulary.
Have you ever used the word “normal” to distinguish between what’s “weird” and what is “acceptable”? Well, “normal” comes from the Latin term to describe a right angle. As someone with a spine problem, standing 90 degrees to the ground for long periods of time makes my back hurt, and therefore I am often tilted at varying degrees when I am standing. Thus “normal” is an offensive phrase, and must be removed from everyone’s vocabulary.
Have you ever used the word “serious” to ascribe weight to someone’s argument? Its derivation is from the German meaning “weightiness”. As someone who is underweight, despite my best efforts to conform to the “normals” of society, I find the word “serious” to be counter to normal humane language. Thus “serious” is an offensive phrase, and must be removed from everyone’s vocabulary.
Have you ever used the word “snark”? The word is attributed to either Lewis Carroll or other turn of the 20th century authors, but the derivation concerns “annoyance” or “irritation”. Again, I refer to my two slipped discs – both of which are more than annoyances and irritations. Obviously, using the word “snark” is offensive. Thus “snark” is an offensive phrase, and must be removed from everyone’s vocabulary.

Me
