I am extending the deadline for Cavalcade of Words to midnight tonight. This week's writing exercise involves the sense of sight. Write something in any genre, style and of any length, which involves only the sense of sight.
Sumbit it in the original diary comments,or just submit it in the comments here.
Quick example:
As I walk down the gravel road, to my right, I see the flashes of fireflies syncopated above the river. Beyond, through the gloom, I can just make out the outline of a barge coming up the river, not directly, but as its bulk blocks out the lights of houses on the other side. The sky is overwhelmed with stars, this far away from any real concentration of human illumination. As I look up, shooting stars begin to race across the heavens. Perhaps it is God's way of saying Yes. As I come up on the boarding house, I can see that the guides, diggers and all, have arranged themselves around a campfire in back, so I stroll over to join them. They all have that expectant look in their eyes, which tells me we will be hip-deep in the Lord tonight. What the hell...
That took me five minutes to write (I know; it shows). Take five or ten minutes to join me in writing something. Exercise your mental muscles; have fun.
Good writing.
