Has everyone in this country lost their minds? Today I read two straight forward, fact based, statistic rich, articles on Yahoo! Finance, and was completely stunned by the comments that were attached to the articles. Unfortunately, as I write this Yahoo! has rotated the articles out of their list, and I can't post links to them any longer, but BOY I wish I could.

Even though each of these articles posted statistic, numbers, and fact after fact, showing that the middle class is falling into poverty, and the upper-class is moving into the Uber-upper-class. That The economy has favored the wealthy for 30+ years, and has been dumping on the middle class at the same time. The comments went on and on about how we should slash taxes for the "Job-Creators", and "Unburden Business", so they can fix our economy! ...... More under the Fold ......

Has everyone been so completely, and totally brainwashed that even in the face of the most unambiguous, straight forward, and un-biased statistics, they can just shout out a "talking point" and fold their arms in satisfaction.

Are the people in this country SO STUPID, that that can't even add and subtract, and see that the corporations are earning record profits quarter after quarter, have billions of dollars on hand, and EVEN IF THEIR TAX RATE WAS ZERO, would only put the $$$ in their pockets and still not create one single more job!

That they currently enjoy the lowest tax rates since the 1950’s and still, NO JOBS ARE BEING CREATED! What exactly does it take for these mindless dumb-asses to understand that they are preaching against their own interests!?!?!

Have we become THAT FREAKING STUPID? I mean, come on, can we not even smell what’s being shoveled on us anymore? When did we decide we didn’t want to “owe our soul to the company store”, but instead wanted to have their credit card, tee-shirt, and be their friend of Face book! The corporations in this country are bending us over in a thousand ways every day and have convinced a huge part of the population that it’s a good thing, and we should sacrifice of ourselves for THEM! I mean folks…WTF!?!?! I realize this county is stuffed full of totally uniformed, ignorant, bastards, but how exactly did we get so STUPID that we got convinced that pain is good?

NOW, My second bone for the day!

I’ve been reading many progressive and liberal diaries and blogs today as well. Everyone is railing against what’s going on in D.C. these days. Of course, I’m referring to this whole HORSE SHIT debt ceiling vis-a-vie budget cut “debate”. I read lots of anger, angst, wailing and gnashing of teeth. I hear people yelling that “we progressives” should do this, that, and the other thing… To make sure our position is known, publicized, and elevated.

Here’s what I don’t read. How do we organize like the Teabaggers!?! When the healthcare debate was going on they were surrounding the Capitol by the tens of thousands with their signs, flags, chants, and demands…. Where are WE? Who is organizing us this weekend? Why aren’t WE swarming the mall right now? We talk, yell, blog, and generally bitch a lot, but where the hell is OUR organization? HUH? I’m ready to march on D.C., I’m Ready to wave to silly flag, and hold some poster. I’m ready to confront someone on the steps of the Capitol… ARE YOU? Or are you just a talker? A Blogger? A griper? WELL?

WHY AREN’T WE DOING WHAT THEY DO? They are now a political FORCE that is pushing the GOP around the map… What are WE doing other than expending HOT AIR?
I’ve joined the “Coffee Party” , the PCCC, and 10 other “Progressive/Liberal” organizations, and what do I get? Talk, Blog, Email, Petition, WIND! Let’s DO FREAKING SOMETHING! I don’t see the Teabaggers blogging, and sending petitions, they’re standing in the Mall by the tens of thousands and getting on the news, every day! When are WE going to do that? HUH?

All of you who are SO PISSED OFF, like me, let’s organize, and stop talking, and DO SOMETHING!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

My backward sister just weighed in today after living in lala land. She asked me what the hell they are doing in washington that people cant find jobs. I told her to start going on line and look up certain websites instead of the various online dating sites she frequents. Get her head in the game. She is one of THOSE people.

If you just listened to your RUSH and FAUX, you'd know that it's excessive REGULATION that stops people from making jobs, as well as HIGH TAXES!!!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist, but the problem is that these people still buy into the theory that they'll be rich someday, and that any regulation of private corporation is tantamount to Communism.

  •  the teabaggers are paid for (4+ / 0-)

people with big money paid for buses, etc.

It's transparent too. If we had some big backers paying people to organize meetings with some nice free food and then promising a good time on a fun trip with free transportation and free lodging then maybe we'd have big crowds too.

But, of course, the media would notice that it was all paid for. They don't notice the teabaggers' bankrollers but they'd notice ours.

We've got to do this on our own, Wisconsin style.

Someone out there must believe in the cause? If not why don't WE believe in the cause enough to decend on D.C. on Day-D, to do it ourselves? we seem angry enough, we SURE talk about it enough, so?

        Leftist protests are "old news".

It's not going to be covered because there's a murder trial somewhere the MM wants to speculate about.

Or some celebrity had a meltdown.

      •  Public sector unions are among the (0+ / 0-)

last remaining sources of funds for this sort of activity. Much of what the right wingers do is unethical if not illegal, though it is probably a cost effective approach for them as they typically don't get investigated immediately and they generally don't get prosecuted or convicted, what with all the money behind this to pay for lawyers, etc.

Progressives, on the other hand, generally don't engage in similar activities, especially as they are more likely to get called out if not smeared by the media for them.

  •  I try to comfort myself (4+ / 0-)

by reminding myself that likely more than a few of those commentors are sock puppets, or people being paid by American's for Prosperity and the like to post that drivel to make the majority feel like the minority.

I've seen enough background on how the US Chamber of Commerce and others create fake identities they use en masse to try and sway public opinion through social media that I always wonder when I see obvious right-wing talking points..

I'm probably kidding myself, but it makes me feel better than believing there are really that many people out there willing to vote their lives (and mine) into the hands of the corporatocracy.

In Animal Farm, whenever anyone said anything which went against what the pigs said, there would be a great shouting of "Four Legs Good! Two Legs Bad!" to drown them out. That's all they are doing. The wingnuts goal on news comment sections is to shout people down, to prevent any discussion from happening. They may well not have read even the first page of the article. Their goal is to make it impossible for anyone to have a discussion - the crazier they get, the more on the mark the article probably was.

It explains why the wingnuts will rave against Obama even on articles that have nothing whatsoever to do with Obama - just shut everything down.

a giant underground lair run by Murdoch and Co. where the people who have been brainwashed past point of deprogramming sit at computers commenting on every news story on every news site in ways that make you wonder if they have any working brain cells left.

I try never to read comments on news sites or You-Tube. They always make me discouraged about humanity in general.

to post comments like the ones you saw at Yahoo.

It's actually a kind of career now for people who have no other work opportunities now, given the state of today's economy.

We see only the tip of the iceberg here at DKos, as we only occasionally discover verifiable fakes here.

By the way, companies also pay bloggers to give positive reviews at consumer sites for their products and to give positive reviews to service providers such as doctors, home services, etc. At the same time there are consulting firms to help companies remove bad reviews from the internete.
