Note: WAG=Wild Ass Guess
This will be short. I am putting my marker down on a prediction. At the Republican convention, there will be a massive floor fight between the moderate and tea-party wings of the republican party. Romney is going to end up with the most delegates, but not a majority of the delegates. It will then turn into a fight amongst the tea party delegates as to which of the crazies (Bachman, Perry, Palin, etc) gets their vote. In the end, Romney will be passed over by the combined votes of the crazies.
Why do I think this is going to happen? Its actually fairly simple. It seems the moderate wing of the republican party has settled on Romney. Huntsman and Pawlenty are getting no love. Meanwhile, the crazy wing has several candidates du jour, none individually outperforming Romney. But, collectively the crazies have far higher polling than Romney.
I predict that this will continue, or even intensify as other crazies (Palin or Perry?) join the race, and moderates (Huntsman and Pawlenty) drop out.
The crazies wil never vote for or support Romney, so the final result is a nasty floor fight at the national convention resulting in a teabagger nominee, and a fractured republican party.
OK, that's my prediction. My chips are down. I'm either destined for glory or shame.
12:29 PM PT: I just thought of something horrifying, funny or both. In this scenario Ron Paul might be the kingmaker!
