This is truly a happy day! One of my best friends has finally found the right one for him. John proposed to Keith (my friend), and Keith said YES! They are getting married in December. Well....not exactly married.
We live in Pennsylvania, so it will not be an officially recognized marriage by law. It will, though, take place in a church on the Northside of Pittsburgh. Keith has always wanted to be married in a church-it means a lot to him. He said the church welcomes commitment ceremonies. My friend and I are already planning a wedding shower. The hard part for us is knowing what to give, as both guys have pretty well set up home.
So, tonight the drink of choice is champagne. I am so thrilled for my friend-he has been down a long road to get to this point, including finally deciding not to give a damn about what people thought about him. He has had a hard life and has had his heart broken badly twice before. It is good to see him this happy!
How about the rest of you? Are any of you celebrating something special? Or are you in that hard part waiting for the thing that will give you reason to celebrate? This is an open thread, come on in--appetizers are on the table. Sometimes the best meals are made of champagne and appetizers. BTW, feel free to share recipes here. Maybe I can make something special for the happy couple at the wedding shower.
