Good Morning Kossacks and Welcome To Morning Open Thread
It seems everyone must make budget cuts and Daily Kos is no exception. Our morning front page Open Thread is no more. A few of us have set up a schedule and have been posting our own version over here on the "wrong" side of the tracks. We've been publishing between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. eastern when there's not much competition and it has slowly been catching on. We do not have a group, but you can follow the tag "Morning Open Thread" and it will show up in your stream every day. Many of us come back and continue the conversations throughout the day and night. If you'd like to help out hosting then leave a note in the comments.
And now -- On With The Show
On Tuesday a heat advisory went out first for 11 states and within a few hours was expanded to 23 states.
The states under heat advisories were Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Things began to cool down in some spots, but in other areas showers and thunderstorms are kicking up. The Plains have some extreme heat that is expected to expand as far as Canada and eastward towards the atlantic region.
It's not even the dog days of summer yet and we have widespread 90+ degree temperatures with triple-digit heat indices that will take place across the Plains, Midwest, Deep South, and Mid-Atlantic regions this weekend into at least early next week. Sections of as many as 34 states could see temperatures in the 90s with triple digit heat indices. ~ Source
