Calling all progressives in the Oshkosh, Wisconsin area. If you can, please try to attend the recall election candidates forum co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters® of Winnebago County. It starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Monday, July 18) at the Oshkosh City Hall, 215 Church Avenue, 4th floor.
Get there early to support the challenger, Democrat Jessica King. It's assumed (at least by me) that the incumbent, Republican Randy Hopper, will be trying to pack the audience with current and former mistresses, Koch Industries employees, Fitzwalkerstan cult members, and other out-of-district companions.
More information is available here.
The forum will be broadcast live on television CitiCable 10 and on radio WOCT 101.9 FM, and rebroadcast several times prior to the election on August 9. It will also be available after the forum via video streaming for those without cable television access at www.oshkoshcommunitymedia.org.
Oshkosh Community Media also state on their site that they will be streaming the debate live.
Momentum is clearly on the side of Jess King. Last Tuesday she crushed one of Wisconsin's infamous, Republican-sponsored fake Democrats in the recall primary. Considering King ran against Hopper in the last regular election and lost by only 200 votes, she has to be considered the favorite in the recall election.
You may remember Randy Hopper from news reports earlier this year. His estranged wife quite publicly agreed to sign recall petitions against Hopper and revealed that Senator Hopper was not even living in his Senate district, but was living in Madison with his much-younger mistress. News media also reported that the mistress was recently placed in a state job at a significantly higher salary than the more-experienced person she replaced.
Randy "bed" Hopper has got to go!
If you go, please be supportive but not disruptive (I know you already know this.) Unfortunately, I would not be able to make it to Oshkosh in time for the debate, but I'm hoping a few Ohkosh-area Daily Kos readers will see this and represent those of us who can't go.
BONUS action item: If you're near Beloit, it's not too late to meet and greet Governor Walker at the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Visitor Center located on I-39/90. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 3:30.
