It was nice to see President Obama provide political cover for Lyin' Cryin' Boehner during last evenings Presidential address. This certainly had the effect of exemplifying to the American people the difference between the President's approach at legislative compromise, and the GOP's tactic of legislative terrorism. It showed how out of touch the GOP is during this current debate, and I think to the White House's credit, at least from a purely political point of view, this was the reason Obama choose to throw Boehner a life preserver, while essentially taunting the rest of the House Republicans as they go down with the sinking USS Republican Tea Party.
But, it's akin to the playground monitor or principal going in front of a school assembly to thank the school bully for his partnership in fighting the nerds, dorks, and dweebs, while chastising the bully's minions for their excessive policy towards these A students.
It's this comparison wherein my point lies: Bully Boehner will never stop shooting spit balls at the teachers, nor will he tell Principal Obama about the "kick me" sign that his minions have stuck to Obama's back. Why give him a pass, and allow him to wander the halls of Congress with the cover of legitimacy? He is still the head of the bullies: The Republican Party.
Further, at this point, why differentiate between the GOP and the Tea Party. We must not allow neither the President, "centrist" Dems and R's, nor the media to provide cover to any member of the party that as a whole would obstruct, purely on ideological grounds, every single legislative goal, whether in Madison, Washington, or any other part of the country.
Boehner has made it clear that his priority is not for a better playground, but "wedgies for all." Please don't appease this bully.
