If the details being reported about the potential deal are accurate, then if I were a Senator or Representative in the US Congress, I would vote against it. A defense spending cut trigger is not sufficient, especially when measured against the Supercommittee's likely cuts on our social safety net.
US Rep Tim Ryan represented his district well, imo, when he said, based upon the details so far, he would vote against it. Andrea Mitchell, Luke Russert, David Gregory, and Chuck Todd also realize that this proposal cannot pass the House. It will lose a lot of Republican support and get precious little support from House Democratic Members. Andrea Mitchell said that the longer that proposal gets examined, the less likely that it is to pass the House. We need to call our representatives on Monday and ask them to oppose this bill. Call them whether they are Republican or Democratic.
The Senate is only part of the lawmaking branch. After this passes the Senate, it will be the House's turn. $3 Trillion in cuts, Medicare on the line, and yet no tax increase trigger. No way. We are not done yet, not by a long ways. Minority Leader Pelosi should tell the deal makers that this will not get Democratic support in the House.
Let Minority Leader Pelosi finish this thing !
