All those years ago when I first found DailyKos, I was so happy. Here was a place with reasonable Democrats, reasonable conversations, and fact-based opinions.
Now when I log in, I fully expect to have to mull through ten or twenty diaries before I find a reasonable and coherent stream of logic. Congratulations, far-lefties, you have co-opted the site. You are not sane. You are not rational. You are every bit the lefty equivalent of the Tea Party. Let’s call it KosState.com…
But that’s not why we’re here. That’s not why we’re in this situation, this “national crisis” if you will.
We’re here because of reasonable Democrats.
Yep, all you reasonable Democrats who didn’t show up at the polls in 2010. All you reasonable Democrats who didn’t bother to talk to your neighbors. All you reasonable Democrats who just threw in the towel after reading far-left rants about how we “gave up” on our Democratic principles.
The far-left whined about not getting a public option; the far-left co-opted the site to demand we release photos of torture; the far-left co-opted the site bitching about extending the tax cuts; the far-left took their eye off the ball, and unrealistically thought we could turn a 180 in a matter of months. Scores of accomplishments were not enough because Obama did not toe the line and do every single thing the far-left wanted.
All or nothing. No in-between. Our own little Tea Party of the left.
And you bought it all. You let it distract you from all the real progress. You let it get you down. And then you didn’t show up at the polls last fall. You surrendered, reinforcing the stereotype about how Democrats fold when the going gets tough. Reinforcing the media line that the Tea Party has some sort of broad support, even though they don't.
Yep. That’s what swung the House election and almost made us lose the Senate. With that swing went a great deal of public opinion. With that swing, we reinforced the idea that Democrats can’t work within our own party.
You can be unhappy with Obama. Fine.
But one thing that is always lost on Democrats and will keep killing us until we pull our collective head out: Even if your choice is between the lesser of two evils, you must choose the lesser of two evils.
F*ck.
Obama couldn’t “cave” to the Tea Party if they weren’t there in the first place. And it is absolutely, unequivocally, certainly, your fault. Congratulations on cutting off your nose to spite your face.
I wish I had more faith in you. But there you are today, recommending one Obama is anti-Christ diary after another. You’re going to do it again, aren’t you? You could be talking about how the Tea Party failed- they didn’t get a tenth of what they wanted. They essentially got fooled. YOu could be micking their decisions, the naivety, their cluelessness. Instead, the supposedly intelligent reasonable Democrats have bought the media line that the hostage-takers won. We're so pathetic that our infighting inspires Republicans: Kos Kidz
The REC list should be full of diaries about Republican failures and how we are going to fix them. Instead, we see more far-left rants that will produce the same result as last time – turning your previous excitement into apathy. Watching Republicans win more House seats in 2012. And giving wholly unqualified, nutty, incoherent louts a chance to win The White House.
Grow up. Stand up. Show up. Get some guts. And get these damn Republicans out of office before they screw us for eternity. Otherwise you have no one to blame but yourselves.
