I hate 'pledges'. I've never liked them and recent events in the news concerning 'pledges' have left a bad taste in my mouth, yet I just signed one.
My Dad, who is a staunch but disillusioned republican, sent me an email about a segment Diane Sawyer did on ABC News.
It's about taking a pledge to buy only American made goods, including food for one month. From August 1st - September 1st. I'm thinking "why not?". It seems to me that if everyone only bought American made items, we would be taking our futures into our own hands. We obviously can't depend on Washington to do the decent thing and create jobs in this country, so I am going to do this. I'm going to buy only American made products for one month. If enough people would do this, republicans and democrats alike, it would make a huge difference!
If there is a downside to this, I'm willing to listen, but I can't see any except maybe the corporations who sent all of our jobs overseas wouldn't make as much money. Sweet revenge!
