Someone once said to me that the worst sight in the world was a hungry mother trying to nurse a hungry, crying baby. In East Africa, and particularly Somalia, this is the scenario being played out each day now.
Mothers and fathers, having literally run out of options when it comes to providing the basics for their children, are burying them instead of being able to nurture them.
This weekend, our fellow kossacks are posting round the clock diaries to raise awareness, and desperately needed funding for food, and shelter in East Africa. They are part of the East Africa Food Crises: 48 Hours of Action project.
This is a group effort with 350.org, Oxfam International, WiserEarth, tcktcktck, DeSmogBlog, MIT Climate CoLab, BPI Campus, Climate Change: The Next Generation, RedGreenAndBlue.org, Cool HIVE, MedicMobile, and The Enough Project.

This famine creates humanitarian need for an estimated 15 million people. The camps were declared "full" months ago, and now relief organizations scramble to build emergency extension camps.
Won't you please help? No donation is too small. Every rec, each sharing of information about this effort matters greatly.
