We have so many insightful and powerful diaries written here at Daily Kos. Our diaries inform, inflame, impassion, and even entertain. We Kossacks have strong voices and an even stronger will to be the change we wish to see in this country.
One of the richest, and perhaps most under-appreciated, areas of thought come in the form of comments attached to these diaries.
Here at Top Comments we strive to recognize and promote the talent of this community by highlighting outstanding comments found throughout the day by the diarist, and through nominations at made at TopComments at gmail dot com by your fellow Kossacks.
These nominations are subjective, and certainly not complete (as no one can read the complete site on a daily basis!). But we hope they will serve to shine a light where deserved, and to give the reader a good starting point in finding conversation on the site.

I converted to the Mac a couple of years ago, and made the transition from Leopard to Snow Leopard without any problems when the latter was released. So when I realized that Lion, the next big cat version of the Mac operating system (OS X) was out, I figured it would be a reasonably easy upgrade. Silly me.
It turns out that with Lion, the "Rosetta" emulation software is being retired. So those of us with older software dating back to the PowerPC era are going to suddenly find ourselves with non-functional software unless we can get an upgrade for it. And some software is not going to be upgraded. Ever.
Such is the case with my email program, Eudora. It was abandoned by Qualcomm years ago, and the Mac version was one behind the PC version at the time of abandonment, so I'd already taken a hit when I moved from PC to Mac.
So the need to do something about getting off Eudora has become more pressing, email being a very important thing. I could move over to the Mac's own mail system, I suppose, though it doesn't excite me; on the other hand, it is possible, and there are conversion programs out there that ought to let me keep my tens of thousands of mail messages going back into the previous millenium (I don't much like losing my history if I don't have to) if I do make that particular move. I prefer having my own mail on my own computer rather than somewhere out in the aether, which limits my options.
On the other hand, I haven't heard anything compelling about Lion that makes me want to hurry the process so I can take advantage of a great feature or killer ap. If you have, feel free to let me know; it never hurts to have a good reason to move forward. For that matter, if you're using a different Mac email program that you love and think I would too, I'd love to hear about it.

There is nothing obsolete about the comments today; the Top Comments mailbox received a quintet of timely submissions (our deadline is 9:30pm Eastern Time). The address of our mailbox for top comments submissions remains:

Anyone can send great comments to our address. Be sure to include the direct link to a comment—the URL—which is available from that comment's date/time; we need that to find your choice. Please always include your Daily Kos user name in the body of your message, so we can credit you properly. If you send a writeup with the link, we are able to include that, too, though we reserve the right to edit.
From Rick Aucoin:
In Alan Grayson's diary Sometimes, Nothing Works, when SwedishJewfish asks "is Eric Cantor really that much of a d*ck in person?", the former congressman is very careful to obey House Rules in his reply, with truly memorable results.
From Miep:
This comment by lakehillsliberal really sums it up.
From Samer:
itzik shpitzik calls out an insult for going too far.
From Eddie C:

From Dragon5616:
You wanna talk job creation? asterkitty lays out the truth for all to see in Dante Atkins' front page feature The myth of the job creator.
From sardonyx (your obsolescent Sunday diarist):
In Mark E Andersen's diary Wisconsin - Stopping the extremists (With photos) reminding us about Tuesday's recall elections, Meteor Blades has a motto for us.
Noor B has a description of ras malai that makes me want to taste some now, even though it's late at night, no Bengali restaurant available that I know of, and I'm full just now anyway. And I should mention that this is from last night's WYFP diary, in a thread about delicious food started by by freedapeople; if you overdo it on the food, vzfk3s has the best way to feel better.

A reminder: We still hope that sometime in this new month top mojo will return once we figure out how to strongarm convince Comment Search to give us exactly what we need in a form that we can use. Which is more difficult and requires more hand-editing than it should be (or used to be).
