Avowed union-basher and all-around corporate lapdog Darrell Issa is now amping up his water carrying for Boeing in Congress, one of his many big business puppeteers, trying to derail the National Labor Relations Board's investigation into the aircraft manufacturer's union busting efforts. Issa serves as chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and has vowed to shut down the NLRB to derail the Boeing dispute.
Yesterday Issa subpoenaed the NLRB for documents, further interjection himself on behalf of Boeing into the ongoing dispute. Rather than let this issue play out before the NLRB and then, if necessary, in federal court, Issa is openly advocating on Boeing's behalf in a move that could save the megacorporation untold millions of dollars. Why bother following the law when you can get your favorite pet Congressman to derail the train?
The labor dispute in question is centered around a plant in South Carolina. Boeing is based in Washington state. Yet Issa's Congressional district is in California. Talk about ignoring the needs of your constituents in favor of toadying to your big money contributors.
