A grassroots community on the air ... what a concept!
Thanks, Markos! From radio Host David Waldman: "It's not a political life ... unless you're doing it." And the startling observation, "We're through our first hour. 60 minutes, as expected."
What's next?
Here's a start on reactions from the community and some suggestions about what to do with those wonderful three hours.
How about segments, predictable segments you can highlight up front and tell us what's coming hour-by-hour.
For example:
1. FACT CHECK: wherein you set the record(s) straight
2. BOTH SIDES NOW or NOT YOUR AVERAGE TALKING POINTS: the in-depth dialog that should have taken place on an issue, with a full, fair statement of The Other Side and then a back-and-forth ... and maybe a call-in
3. GRASSROOTS: have David Nir select highlight interesting, curious, signficant current election-oriented news
4. MEME OF THE WEEK: comment on what the mainstream media has decided is the news and the way to think about it
5. RADIO DIARY (a call-in)
- script a message, hopefully with some nuance and written to be listened to
- hosts comment, then “open up the lines” or read from input from, the site!
6. CALL FOR ACTION: when appropriate (don’t overdo this!), highlight a contest, a person, an event to pay attention to.
7. WHAT’S NOT WEIRD, NOT WEIRDER AND NOT WEIRDEST. Need we explain this to David and Armando?
