Bloomberg is reporting that Obama is announcing that shortly after Labor Day, he is going to give a speech presenting a "package" of job stimulus and deficit reduction in which everything is on the table.

Shocked. Totally shocked. I can't believe that this can POSSIBLY be happening.
Can someone please help me understand WHY this president wants not only to destroy his possibility of being reelected, but utterly destroy the Democratic party as well?
May be, hopefully, this is a joke. May be the code words "entitlement reform" mean lifting the earnings cap on Social Security. May be it will entail more scrutiny of unnecessary medical procedures, whatever that may mean.
But instead, all I can think of is another circus worse than the first.
However much I may wish to cling to the thread that "Obama is doing this for the good of the country." It virtually turns my brain inside out trying to figure out how "putting everything on the table" accomplishes that. The same Seniors who turned on the Democrats in 2010 will do the same in 2012, and there, my friends goes the ballgame.
If, after all this, Obama puts Medicare and SS on the chopping block for the sake of "bipartisanship" and "enticing the GOP to the table" I have HAD ENOUGH.
There is an ineffable attribute of intelligence related to the ability to admit you may not have all the answers, are willing to learn, and admit that perhaps you were wrong. With all due respect, President Obama seems as equally lacking in this quality as the Tea Partiers.
There is only ONE recourse we have. And that is to take to the streets. There is no other course of action. If we do not, we are going to live in a country completely and utterly dominated by the GOP and their minions except for pockets in which we are able to hold on.
It is over, people. The future of our country rests in our hands. It is up to us to defend her, or watch her self-destruct. The choice is ours, and the time is now.
We need organization. We need task forces. And we need a plan.
It is now, or never.
