Ok, right now we're a certainly in the midst of a Circular Firing Squad situation.
We've gone from "Yes, we Can" to - "Oh No, He' Didn't (Again)!"
I was the one who said "Obama has heard you" and I continue to believe that's true. I think he's turned a corner. Sure, I may have been projecting my Hope onto him and/or jumping the gun to come to that conclusion based on a few of his statements during his bus tour. But that's what I think.
The point of my saying it at the time was not to suggest anyone should "Quiet Down". Exactly the contrary.
You can see the frustration here as Robert Gibbs was grilled by Savannah Guthrie, not for how he has failed to meet right-wing meme's as would usually be the case, but for how he hasn't (yet) stood up as a strong progressive and put forth a bold jobs plan.
And I think Gibb's answers this well. The Very First Thing that Obama and the previous Congress did was try to deal with both jobs and the economy. They had TARP and the Auto Bailouts leftover from the Bush Administration. Those they tightened up and made more accountable where Bush essentially wanted a blank check with no strings.
Remember that?
Does anyone remember Sec. Hank Paulson handing congress a two page request for $700 Billion? In the end Bush got $350 Billion and Obama got the other half, which as a point in fact - he never even used.
He did however implement a Stimulus Bill to directly invest in building and infrastructure projects. It's true it may have been smaller than neccesary, and it may have had too many tax cuts which were ineffective - but he did do it and it did help both the economy and the jobs situation. We went from losing 200,000 jobs a month to regularly gaining between 50,000-100,000 a month.
Then the Tea Party Showed up and started Railing about all the Crazy Spending!
They shut off the water that was irrigation the job market.
Since then where we've seen job losses hasn't been in the private sector, it's been with Public Employement in the States.
Gibbs points out, correctly, that Politics is the only reason we can't get done what we all know needs to be done. In 2005, Republicans overwhelming supported huge Transportation projects, now they reject it.
Most Republicans, like Michelle Bachmann and Rick Perry who railed about Government Spending and the "Ineffectiveness" of the Stimulus - have been begging for Stimulus Money and using it to make themselves look good while butchering the President.
THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE WE NEED TO BE SCREAMING AT.
Like this...
Those are the people who are standing in the way, and blocking a reasonable, rational, progressive agenda for America. The weaker we make them, the stronger we make Obama's hand.
If you think Warren Buffet is right and we've been coddling the Rich, Make a Republican Explain to you why we can't go back to the Clinton Era Tax Rates that produced 20 Million Jobs and Balanced the Budget?
Ask a Republican why do we have to even consider balancing the budget on the backs, of the Sick, the Poor, the Elderly and Children who who can least handle the weight?
If you think we should've had a Public Option - make a REPUBLICAN explain to you why was wrong when they said it would save 5%-7% on Health Care Premium Costs.
If you think the S&P Downgrade was clearly the fault of Republicans and the Tea Party, make one of them explain why it isn't when the S&P own Report clearly stated that it was.
If you think we should stop ALL Torture and War Crimes, make a Republican explain why would shouldn't repeal the Military Commission Act which makes all of the actions authorized for Gitmo and Abu Ghraib that don't result in organ failure or death - Perfectly Legal.
The point isn't to change their minds, the point is to expose who and what they really are and GET IT ON YOUTUBE to destroy the base of their support.
Like this protest over jobs at Paul Ryan's Office.
Here where Super-Committe Member Fred Upton suggests repealing Health Reform and instead his Town Hall Constituents begin to chant 'Bring Back Jobs!".
Here where this Town Hall Audience Laughs at a Repub for suggesting that the Rich should volunteer to be taxed more.
Here where Mitt Romney claimed raising the Social Security Cap "Won't solve it's long term Demographic Problem" - when, in fact, it will.
And here where Romney admits he wants to Lay Off Public Employees (as if that wasn't already happening).
Here where Rick Perry was protested in Iowa for his position that Social Security is Unconstitutional.
Here where Rep Patrick McHenry was challenged on his failure to create jobs.
They are Economic Suicide Bombers. They are the New Anti-American Fifth Column. THey are Hell Belt on undermining Main Street America to service the vagaries of Wall Street. They have to be STOPPED.
Whether Obama Fights them or not - WE HAVE TO.
We put Him in Office. We gave the Congress to the Democrats. If we're going to keep either (and regain the later), we need to stop pointing fingers at other Democrats and use our justified anger against the people who truly deserve it.
Republicans.
This isn't a two year fight. It's not a ten year fight. This is Generational. Long after Obama is retired from Office, whether it's one term or two terms - we're still going to be fighting. We won't get everything we want, and frankly not everything we need right now - but if we stand down out of frustration we'll lose it all.
We're the ones who need to Fight, GODDAM IT, FIGHT!
Now is the time.
