The last thing I wanted my comments to do was to discourage progressives.
If the Repulicans have a big victory in 2012, it might be all over. They have enormous advantages: Citizens United, a neutered Mainstream Media, masive advantages in communications expertise, great skill in fixing elections, and a public not given to close, rational analysis.
Question One. Governor Rick Perry has talked about the secession of Texas. How can any rational, patriotic American vote for him as president.
Question Two. Republican front-runner Mitt Romney said the debt ceiling deal was unacceptable., That meant he favored default. How can this man defend the Constitution, with a 14th Amendment mandate on defending our faith and credit?
If any thought I was a defeatist, I offer an apology. I think we have to go to the trenches and battle every Republican lie and misrepresentation.
A Comment: I am not certain we can steer the revitalization movement now underway in a progressive direction right away. People are very fearful and naturally revert to old paradigms for comfort. But revitalization movements do come to an end. We need to keep inserting facts. Eventually they might sink in.
It is likely that the Republicans will push us into another recession in order to insure Obama's defeat in 2012. We need to state this outright. He cannot because he would appear to be an angry black man.
We need to plant the idea that the GOP wants another recession to insure election victory in 2012. We also need to start deflating their man foolish ideas.
It will take some time, but there will be a paradigm shift.
