In Paris, France, it is August 27th. On August 27th, 1928, in Paris France, the U.S. and some other countries signed the Kellogg–Briand Pact. This treaty has been, ever since, part of the "Law of the Land".
What was it? The signers renounced wars of aggression. The agreement prohibits signers from using war as an instrument of national policy.
This, then, was the death of militarism and imperialism. This is what we do not use our military or that of stand-ins to promote our interests abroad. This is why we can get by with a small, downsized military suited for national defense instead of a monster war department geared to interfering globally at the drop of a hat.
Let us all take a minute to celebrate and give thanks.
