Good Evening, Kossacks and WYFPers. I am writing this post (I guess they are no longer diaries) a day early. The rains are supposed to start here on Saturday evening, and I have no idea whether I will have power or internet access at 8 pm eastern. I hope that everyone here is safe and that all of you on the east coast have taken adequate precautions. I have water and food that does not need refrigeration. My biggest worry is DeviousPie (Son 3). He used my frequent flier miles to visit his brother in California, and he is supposed to return to Philly International Airport (PHL) at about 10: 15. He first flies from LAX to O'Hare. If he gets as far as Chicago, my sister who lives in SW Michigan will pick him up and take care of him. We need to get him home before next Wednesday, his first day of classes for the fall term.
WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and share advice, pootie pictures, favorite adult beverages, and anything else that we think might help. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
Follow me below the squiggle for some pictures of our hurricane preparations.
Here you can see my container garden as it looked on Friday morning. A couple of weeks ago, blue jersey dad built me these nice shelves for all my potted plants:
Here's how it looked on Friday afternoon:
And here are all my poor plants hiding in the garage:
We have tried to move everything that might be picked up or blown over by the high winds.
We have a flashlight, batteries, a charged-up cell phone (although whether or not it will work during the storm is a good question), and lots of food and water. Dad did all the wash (our water comes from a well, and if the power goes out, we lose our water), so we have a few days of clean, dry clothes. My homeowners' insurance is paid up. I have lived in this house for over 26 years, and I have never made a claim. I hope that I won't have to make one this time.
Please, everyone, stay safe. I hope to be here at 8 eastern, but I can't promise anything. So what's your f$%king problem tonight?
