They all let the mosquitoes in....oh right.... my point
Funnily enough, and believe it or not I am delighted there are so many true blue Obama supporters on Kos.
I am also delighted that there are many here offering criticism based on their own values.
Where it all falls down is when we criticize each other just for the sheer pleasure of it all.
Now being on the socialist wing of the party I wrote a diary awhile back about how I felt at the time. My view still hasn't changed and I am one of the lucky few [Vermont] that has progressive representation, it didn't happen by accident either; it was worked for over a long period of time.
I have tried to [and sometimes failed] not attacking other Kossacks for their point of view and to keep it purely political. What I find hardest is when groups are lumped into a particular "frame" and attacked based on some mythical unanimity. We all have ideas of which way we want things to go, and they are personal hopes rather than lockstep dogma.
Threats and menaces to my mind are the other wing's peccadillo and not ours, demanding that others behave the way you want them to may be wishful thinking; but when it crosses some imaginary line it becomes meaningless insults.
Some cry about community moderation whilst all the time hurling around HR's. Unless it is directly insulting [including racism, bigotry etc] or downright lies; hr's should not be used for a point of view. Criticizing a particular politician or any elected politician is fair game just as long it is either over a policy, particularly disgusting misconduct, or a particular statement/action is fine. Complaining about a party is not an HR'able offense a far as I know.
If you make your point of view so odious that it puts people off doing what you would like them to do.... then you have; "dairy/comment fail" and you can expect people to fight back with the same school-ground rhetoric.
We are all responsible for what we write, tip, wreck or flame and what turns out to be the most popular diaries/comments of the day. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with this as it is in essence democratic. Maybe what Kossacks off the front page really like is throwing pie around.
