From LA Times:
Speaking on Fox News Channel, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said a natural disaster like Hurricane Irene is an "appropriate instance" for a federal role, but that the government can't go deeper into debt to pay for unexpected outlays.
"We will find the money if there is a need for additional monies," he said. But "those monies are not unlimited. And what we've always said is, we've offset that which has already been funded."
It's wonderful how the GOP cares so much more for the tax cuts of those who don't need help rather than actual Americans who do. Eric Cantor is the poster boy for callous disregard of human life. He won't waste any opportunity to voice his opinion that natural disasters are no excuse for helping people in need or trying to ease the pain of those who have had enormous loss.
If you may recall, back in March this sniveling little asshole had a similar conscious-free moment when discussing the disaster in Japan:
"All of us need to be tempered by the fact that we've got to stop spending money we don't have," Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told reporters at his weekly press briefing. "Essentially, what you are saying is to go borrow money from the Japanese so we can spend it there to help the Japanese."
Maybe it's me, but I don't want people like this representing me or my interests because their interests are wholly selfish, self-serving and lacking in any sense of proportion. The fact that this asshole is always the first to politicize a tragic event says more about him and the kind of human being he is than it does in making any kind of point about deficits.
Eric Cantor has lived a charmed life. He comes from great wealth. Spent 10 years as the family attorney. Got into politics on the back of said money. Has never had to struggle to find a job, worry about a bill, give up his country club membership or compromise his government-run health program which is the best in the country.
But he has nothing but condemnation for anyone who doesn't have those breaks that he so clearly takes for granted. And as far as those "too stupid" to get in the Learjet and fly away from a natural disaster? Well. Fuck them. Isn't that what you're really saying, Mr. Cantor?
